The Agape Village Orphanage will be located in Zambia, in southern Africa. The Zambian people are incredibly beautiful in spirit but are for the most part very poor. Therefore, caring for the multitudes of children orphaned by aids and other diseases that are prevalent in the country is a tremendous daily struggle.
In 2010 it is estimated that Zambia, which has a population of 12 million people, has 1.2 million orphans. This astounding statistic makes some sense when one realizes that the life expectancy in Zambia is 38 years and that the median age in the country is 17 years.
We believe that we are challenged as Christians to help in such situations. James 1:27 states, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
